O EAS (electronic article surveillance), também conhecido como sistema anti-roubo (roubo) de mercadoria electrónica, é uma das medidas de segurança de mercadoria amplamente utilizada na indústria de retalho em grande escala.
Sistema EAS é composto principalmente de três partes: sensor, desactivador e etiqueta e etiqueta electrónica. As etiquetas electrónicas estão divididas em etiquetas suaves e etiquetas duras. As etiquetas suaves têm um baixo custo e são directamente aderidas a bens "duros". As etiquetas suaves não podem ser reutilizadas; o custo único da etiqueta dura é superior ao da etiqueta macia, mas pode ser reutilizada. As etiquetas duras devem ser equipadas com extractores de unhas especiais, que são principalmente usadas para artigos de vestuário macios e facilmente penetráveis. A maioria dos descodificadores são dispositivos sem contacto com uma certa altura de descodificação. Quando o caixa faz o check-in ou sacos, a etiqueta electrónica pode ser descodificada sem tocar na área de desmagnetização. Existe também um dispositivo que combina o descodificador e o leitor de códigos de barras laser, para que a recolha de mercadorias e a descodificação possam ser concluídas de uma só vez para facilitar o trabalho do caixa. Este método deve cooperar com o fornecedor do código de barras laser para eliminar a interferência mútua entre os dois e melhorar a sensibilidade da descodificação. Quando as mercadorias não codificadas são retiradas do centro comercial, o alarme será disparado quando elas passarem pelo dispositivo detector (principalmente em forma de porta), de modo a lembrar o caixa, os clientes e o pessoal de segurança do centro comercial de lidar com elas a tempo.
