What is Barcode Scanner?
A barcode reader is a device used to read the information contained in a barcode and is an input device.
Types of barcode readers
They can be classified according to the light source as:
Iridescent barcode readers (also known as CCD scan guns) and laser barcode readers.
Laser barcode readers are superior to iris barcode readers in terms of scanning speed, scanning distance, scanning sensitivity, etc. The main application in the market is laser barcode readers.
Laser barcode reader is a single-line scanner using laser diode as the light source, it mainly has two types of rotating mirror type and trembling mirror type. The rotating mirror type uses a high-speed motor to drive a prism set to rotate the single point laser emitted by the diode into a line. The production cost of the quiver mirror type is lower than that of the rotating mirror type, but the laser gun of this principle is not easy to improve the scanning speed, which is generally 33 times/second and can reach up to 100 times/second.
CCD iris barcode reader is to use the principle of photoelectric coupling (CCD) to image the barcode printing pattern and then decode it. Its advantages are: no rotating shaft, motor, long life; cheap price.
By application and type of barcode can be divided into:
- Wired barcode scanners (1D, 2D).
- Wireless barcode scanners (1D, 2D).
- Scanning platform.
Working principle of RFID reader
RFID reader (read-write) through the antenna and RFID electronic label carries on the wireless communication, may realize to the label recognition code and the memory data reads out or writes the operation. A typical reader contains a high frequency module (transmitter and receiver), control unit and reader antenna.
Among them, the electronic label is also called the radio frequency label, the transponder, the data carrier; the reader is also called the readout device, the scanner, the communicator, the read-write (depending on whether the electronic label can rewrite data wirelessly). Between the electronic label and the reader through the coupling element realizes the radio frequency signal space (no contact) coupling, in the coupling channel, according to the time sequence relationship, realizes the energy transmission, the data exchange.
Occurs between the reader and the electronic label RF signal coupling type has two kinds.
- (1) inductive coupling. Transformer model, through the space of high-frequency alternating magnetic field to achieve coupling, based on the law of electromagnetic induction.
- (2) electromagnetic backscattering coupling: radar principle model, launch out the electromagnetic wave, encounter the target after reflection, while carrying back the target information, according to the electromagnetic wave space propagation law.
