El sistema EAS (vigilancia electrónica de artículos), también conocido como sistema electrónico antirrobo (hurto) de mercancías, es una de las medidas de seguridad de mercancías más utilizadas en la gran distribución.
Sistema EAS se compone principalmente de tres partes: sensor, desactivador y etiqueta electrónica Las etiquetas electrónicas se dividen en etiquetas blandas y etiquetas duras. Las etiquetas blandas tienen un coste bajo y se adhieren directamente a las mercancías "duras". Las etiquetas blandas no pueden reutilizarse; El coste único de la etiqueta dura es mayor que el de la etiqueta blanda, pero puede reutilizarse. Las etiquetas duras deben estar equipadas con extractores de clavos especiales, que se utilizan sobre todo para prendas blandas y de fácil penetración. La mayoría de los descodificadores son dispositivos sin contacto con una cierta altura de descodificación. Cuando el cajero factura o embolsa, la etiqueta electrónica puede descodificarse sin tocar la zona de desmagnetización. También existe un dispositivo que combina el descodificador y el escáner láser de códigos de barras, de modo que la recogida de la mercancía y la descodificación pueden realizarse a la vez para facilitar el trabajo de la cajera. Este método debe cooperar con el proveedor de códigos de barras láser para eliminar las interferencias mutuas entre ambos y mejorar la sensibilidad de descodificación. Cuando las mercancías sin codificar salgan del centro comercial, se activará la alarma cuando atraviesen el dispositivo detector (en su mayoría en forma de puerta), para recordar a la cajera, a los clientes y al personal de seguridad del centro comercial que deben ocuparse de ellas a tiempo.
